Obtaining second U.S. passport

Second passport is issued at the U.S. Department of State discretion for one of the following reasons:

Frequent traveler does not have time to apply for visas between trips.
For security purposes (for example, when traveling between Israel and anti-Israeli states).

Second passports are valid for a period of 2 years and can be extended upon expiration if necessary.

1 Gathering the necessary documents to apply for second passport
a	Our order form	Please fill out our Order Form and indicate the type of processing that you require ( Rush or Regular )
b	Passport renewal application online: DS-82 online	Fill out the passport renewal application online . Click on "Continue" under "Apply for a Passport Book" column and print the application. Be sure to sign and date your application.
c	Letter of explanation	The letter from the applicant has to be addressed to the US Department of State and explain in detail why the second passport is needed. The letter has to be from the applicant, not the applicant's employer or other entity.
d	Current valid passport	You are required to present your primary passport with your application. If your current passport is within 1 year of expiration you will need to renew your passport before applying
e	Letter of Authorization	Please print, sign, and date the letter.
f	Two (2) passport photos	Photos must be recent, identical, 2x2 inches, not from a vending machine. More on photo requirements
g	Travel itinerary	- Copy of a plane ticket to a foreign country, or - Copy of a travel itinerary with the applicant's name showing dates and flight info, or if neither is available and traveling for business - A letter from the employer. For 24 hour passport service only travel dates must be within 14 days.
h	Payment	Certified Check or Money Order for $135 payable to the " US Department of State "
