Brussels Airport to move bus station on 7 May ahead of new intermodal mobility hub
Brussels Airport Company confirmed on 30 April 2026 that it will relocate its main bus station by roughly 100 metres from 7 May, freeing space for the construction of a €100-million intermodal hub designed to integrate bus, rail, tram and long-distance coach services under one roof by 2030. The temporary facility—still on Level 0—will feature five platforms serving eight De Lijn routes, STIB airport line 12, Flibco and FlixBus coaches and the Airport Express link to Antwerp. A covered walkway will connect the new stop to the departures hall, and existing luggage lockers will be shifted alongside the passenger flow.

International passengers passing through the airport may also need to organise visas ahead of time. VisaHQ’s digital concierge service streamlines Belgian and wider Schengen visa applications for both individual travellers and corporate mobility managers, synchronising travel documentation with the airport’s evolving transport connections. Airport officials stress that timetables will remain unchanged and that some 1.3 million annual bus users—many of them airport workers—should experience minimal inconvenience. The relocation marks the first visible step in Brussels Airport’s plan to position itself as a low-carbon mobility hub for the wider Flemish-Brabant region. Once completed, the intermodal complex will offer seamless transfers between national rail services, the future Ring Tram-Bus line and new high-capacity coach bays, reducing reliance on private cars and easing pressure on the E40 motorway corridor. For global-mobility teams, improved landside connectivity should cut door-to-door transfer times for commuting assignees living in Antwerp, Leuven and Ghent and give travellers more resilient alternatives when rail strikes hit. The upgrade also anticipates the EU’s push for greener business travel under the European Climate Law, meaning that organisations reporting Scope 3 emissions will have additional public-transport options to meet reduction targets. Construction will occur in phases to keep air-side operations unaffected, but sporadic bus-bay shifts are possible. Mobility managers should monitor airport alerts and update ground-transport instructions in travel apps and welcome packs accordingly.
