The Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PANSA) has signed a contract to equip Warsaw Modlin Airport with a full remote-tower solution, the agency announced on 27 April 2026. The deal, concluded with Swedish technology provider Saab, will allow controllers based at PANSA’s Warsaw operations centre to manage Modlin’s traffic via high-definition camera feeds and augmented-reality overlays.
While airlines and airport authorities focus on operational efficiency, individual stakeholders—be they visiting engineers, consultants or corporate observers—often need fast and reliable visa processing. VisaHQ can streamline every step of obtaining a Poland Schengen visa through its dedicated portal (https://www.visahq.com/poland/), offering online applications, document review and courier pickup so that travel plans align seamlessly with project milestones like the Modlin remote-tower rollout.
Modlin—Warsaw’s rapidly growing low-cost secondary hub—is constrained by its single runway and small physical tower, which cannot accommodate additional controller positions. The digital tower will increase declared capacity by up to 20 %, giving Ryanair and Wizz Air scope for new early-morning and late-evening slots that are critical for business travellers connecting through Warsaw. For corporate travel managers, the upgrade promises fewer weather-related diversions and faster recovery after disruptions, as remote sensors will provide 360-degree visibility even in fog that traditionally forces Modlin to close. PANSA says the system will go live in Q4 2026 after a six-month shadow-operation phase in which digital and conventional towers work in parallel. The contract is part of a broader Polish strategy to digitalise regional airports ahead of the planned Central Transport Hub (CPK). PANSA’s 2034 roadmap envisages remote towers at eight airports, reducing infrastructure costs and easing chronic shortages of air-traffic-control staff.
