Turkey is considered an easy-to-visit destination for Omani citizens. The country is known for its delicious cuisines and gorgeous landscapes. Moreover, they also offer a lot of facilities to Oman passport holders.
In this article, we have provided all the information that you need to visit Turkey, including visa requirements and procedures. So, without further ado, let's get into it!
Turkey Visa Options for Omanis
To visit the country, Omani citizens must have a visa. Fortunately, Turkey offers different types of visas for different purposes. If you are traveling to other countries, you can get a transit visa to stay in Turkey for up to 2 days.
For tourism and business purposes, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has started e-visa services. This means you can apply for an electronic visa by filling out an online application form from the comfort of your home. This multiple entry visa allows you to stay in the country for 90 days, and it comes with a validity of 180 days. The best thing about e-visa is that you don’t have to waste your precious time visiting the consulate of Turkey. You can apply for this visa on your own.
In case you want to work or stay in Turkey for more than 90 days, you are required to get a traditional visa. You cannot apply for a traditional Turkey visa online. So, you have to visit the embassy and submit your application in person.
Apply for Turkey e-Visa from Oman
All Omani citizens, whether they are ordinary passport holders or official passports, can apply for a Turkey e-visa. The procedure is quite straightforward. All you need to do is follow 3 simple steps:
Fill out the visa application form
Pay the visa processing fee using a secure online payment option
Submit your form
The visa application process also requires you to submit some important documents. To fill the form, you'll need to provide personal details, contact details, and travel documents, including:
Name and surname
Date of birth
Place of birth
Passport issue and expiry dates
Keep in mind that an e-visa does not guarantee your entry; the immigration officials have the final say!
If you are an Oman passport holder, you are required to submit some important documents with your visa application, also known as visa requirements. These documents include:
A passport valid for at least 5 months
A debit card or credit card
A valid e-mail address
Once they submit all these documents, applicants will get their e-visa via email!
On approval, you'll get your visa by email. Most Omani citizens get their visa within 24 hours, up to 48 hours in some cases. However, you are advised to allow extra time in case of delays.
Alternatively, if you are in a hurry, you can apply for an urgent visa to enter Turkey. With an urgent visa, the processing time can reduce to around 5 hours.
Turkey Visa for Foreigners Living in Oman
Turkey visa requirements are different from nationality to nationality. If you are a foreigner living in Oman, you can still apply for a Turkish visa as long as your passport is issued by an eligible country.
Many Omani residents are from the Philippines, Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan. If you are from one of these countries, you can apply for a single-entry visa for up to 30 days within a 180-day period. That being said, you should check for your visa requirements before you apply for the Turkey tourist visa online.
Travel to Turkey - Entry requirements
Upon your arrival, applicants are required to present some important documents, including:
A valid visa issued by the Turkey government
A passport with blank pages
COVID-19 vaccination certificate
It's advised to get your COVID-19 vaccination certificate beforehand to avoid self-isolation.
Mode of Transportation
To enter Turkey, Omani citizens have multiple options. They can visit the country by air, by sea, or by road.
The best and most convenient option for you is, of course, by air. A direct flight from Oman to Turkey takes around 6 hours. However, you can also enter the country using non-direct flights, such as:
Muscat to Ankara
Sohar to Izmir
Salalah to Ankara
If you are traveling by road, you'll have to drive for around 4,000km, which is not a common option.
Turkey Embassy in Oman
If you are getting an e-visa, you don’t have to visit the Turkey embassy. You can simply fill out the online application form, pay the visa fee and get your visa via email.
However, if you are not eligible for an e-visa or facing any issues, you should contact the nearest Turkish mission located in Oman.
