EU pushes UK to accept uncapped Youth Mobility Scheme as talks intensify
The EU has proposed an uncapped Youth Mobility Scheme allowing young Britons and Europeans to live and work in each other’s territory for up to three years, while the UK wants a time-limited, capped programme. Disputes over numbers and tuition-fee status are holding up a deal that business groups see as vital for plugging talent gaps. A political agreement is targeted for 2026 with a launch in 2027.
