Qantas launches ‘NT, the Place to Be’ sale to stimulate Northern Territory travel
Qantas has unveiled a three-day domestic fare blitz aimed at reviving business and leisure traffic to Darwin, Alice Springs and Uluru ahead of the 2026–27 peak season. Economy-class one-way tickets from Sydney to Darwin start at AUD 189, while Melbourne–Uluru is priced from AUD 209, for travel between mid-August 2026 and April 2027. The sale is available through Qantas’ NDC distribution channel, with lower fares for agencies connected via API. Tourism NT chief executive Andrew Hopper welcomed the promotion, noting that inbound numbers remain 12 per cent below pre-pandemic levels for corporate meetings and incentive groups. The Northern Territory government has partnered with Qantas on a AUD 2 million marketing campaign targeting mining, energy and defence contractors that rotate staff through Darwin.

If your travellers include overseas delegates or incentive winners, remember that they may still need the correct Australian entry documents even when using domestic legs of these discounted Qantas fares. VisaHQ’s streamlined portal (https://www.visahq.com/australia/) lets organisers and individual passengers secure the appropriate ETA, eVisitor or Business Visitor visas online, ensuring paperwork is finalised well before the 2026–27 peak season rush.

For corporate mobility planners, the discounted inventory offers an opportunity to lock in 2026 project travel at lower cost. However, availability is limited and distribution surcharges apply to EDIFACT bookings, so companies using legacy GDS platforms may pay up to AUD 22 extra per sector. Travel managers should also note that Qantas will suspend Melbourne–Coffs Harbour services from 18 May to July 2026 for fleet maintenance; rerouting via Sydney could negate some of the NT sale savings.
