Fast-Track Immigration Programme Now Active at 13 Indian Airports
India’s Bureau of Immigration quietly pushed its Fast Track Immigration–Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) into full operational mode at 13 airports on Monday, expanding automated e-gate clearance beyond the seven hubs launched in 2024. Under FTI-TTP, pre-verified Indian citizens and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card-holders can use biometric e-gates for both departures and arrivals. Passengers scan their passport and boarding pass, then submit to facial recognition; no ink immigration stamp is issued and the entire process takes 20–30 seconds.

VisaHQ can help organisations and individual travellers navigate FTI-TTP’s online prerequisites; through its dedicated India portal (https://www.visahq.com/india/) the company offers documentation review, application tracking and personalised alerts that take the guesswork out of Trusted-Traveller registration.

Membership is gratis, valid for 10 years (or until passport expiry) and open to anyone aged seven or older holding a non-ECR passport. The government says the system should shave several minutes per traveller at peak times, which matters as international throughput has rebounded to 2019 levels and is projected to reach 100 million passengers by FY 2027. For companies managing high-frequency executive travel, FTI-TTP offers concrete savings: less dwell time, reduced risk of missed connections and lower overtime charges for meet-and-assist staff. Mobility teams should encourage eligible employees and their accompanying family members to enrol online and complete biometric capture at Foreigners Regional Registration Offices or dedicated airport counters well in advance of upcoming trips. The Ministry of Home Affairs has already budgeted funds to roll the programme out to 31 airports by 2027, signalling that automated border control is set to become India’s default model.
