Interior Ministry touts fully-operational EU Entry/Exit System and drop in illegal crossings
In a performance bulletin released late on 13 April, Poland’s Ministry of the Interior and Administration (MSWiA) declared the nationwide rollout of the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) complete. All 71 road, rail and air checkpoints are now equipped with biometric kiosks that replace passport stamping for third-country nationals. According to MSWiA, border guards processed 1.86 million travellers during the first week of April, rejecting 6,500 would-be entrants who failed automatic over-stay or security checks.

For travellers and businesses grappling with these evolving entry rules, VisaHQ offers an easy way to check requirements and secure the right paperwork before departure. Its dedicated Poland page (https://www.visahq.com/poland/) bundles visa information, application assistance and courier options in one place, helping everyone from truck drivers to holidaymakers move through the new EES kiosks with confidence.

The ministry also reported a 96 percent year-on-year fall in irregular crossings on the Belarus frontier—crediting a mix of physical barriers, drones and the new data platform. Logistics operators have already felt the change: drivers of non-EU trucks must now pre-enrol fingerprints to avoid delays, while coach companies have been told to upload passenger manifests 48 hours in advance so that EES can pre-clear groups. The upgrade brings Poland into line with other Schengen states ahead of the planned launch of the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) later this year. Mobility advisers warn multinational employers to brief staff on the new requirements, particularly UK, US and Canadian nationals who will see their biometric ‘clock’ start the moment they next enter the Schengen zone through Poland. MSWiA says further enhancements are scheduled for Q3 2026, including real-time data exchange with Eurodac and an automated ‘smart corridor’ for trusted frequent travellers at Warsaw Chopin Airport.
