Citizens of Qatar can now travel to India at short notice if they obtain an online Visa. Unlike embassy visa applications that may take up to 2 weeks to process, Qataris can obtain a normal visa from the Indian embassy or an online visa as quickly as 3-5 working days (when it becomes available). The application process is called an Electronic Travel Authorization permit or E visa.
What Is The Indian E Visa
For years, the only way foreign nationals could visit India was by obtaining a visa directly from the Indian consulate in their countries. This was often a protracted process that took a long time. India being a widely visited country, often had the offices of their foreign missions filled with applicants demanding visas.
To make the process faster and easier, the Indian government, through its Ministry of External Affairs, launched the Electronic Travel Authorization scheme in 2014.

Types Of E Visa
There are different types of E visas for India, and they are as follows.
Tourist E Visa
The most popular online visa foreign nationals apply for is an e visa for tourism. This visa is specially issued to holidaymakers and fun seekers who want to spend their vacation in India. A tourist visa permit the holder to stay in the country for 30 or 90 days, depending on the validity.
This visa offers multiple entries with a validity of 1 month, 1 year, and 5 years.
Business E Visa
A business e visa is obtained for the purpose of visiting India for business activities. This business visa is for investors or professionals contracted by an Indian entity to work for a short time in the country. Business visas allow the holder to stay in the country for up to 180 days at a time. It has a 1-year validity and is a double entry document.
E Conference Visa
A Qatar citizen invited to events like conferences, workshops, seminars, and the like may apply for this type of visa. E-conference visas are valid for 60 days and are single-entry visas. You can stay in India for 30 days on this visa.
E Medical Visa
Those seeking medical care in any of India’s hospitals need to obtain an e medical visa. The good news is that, just like the others, this visa can be obtained online at short notice in cases of emergency. E Medical visas are valid for 120 days. Holders can stay in the country to receive the medical care they need for up to 60 days at a time.
Note: E medical electronic visa holders can have a caregiver or family member accompany them on their visit to India if they have an e medical attendant visa. This visa has the same validity as the e medical visa. Please note that minors do not qualify as attendants; the application has to be 18 years and above.
Required Documents
To obtain a visa for India, the applicant must attach the following to their application form.
Valid Passport
Scan and upload the bio page of their passport to the application form. Only passports with at least 6 months validity and 2 blank pages will be accepted.
Photograph
A clear recent photograph in white background uploaded in JPEG format.
Email Address
A verified email address where the online e visa will be sent once it is approved.
Debit or Credit Card
A debit or credit card is required to pay the visa application fee.
