Traveling To India
Over the last decade, India has witnessed a steady influx of foreign nationals arriving for multiple reasons. Two of the major reasons are tourism and medical treatments. The country has become a G-20 economy, leading to massive development of infrastructure across the board. Besides the development of infrastructure, another reason why there has been a steady influx of visitors is because the Indian government has revamped its visa and immigration laws and processes to make it easier for visitors.
They introduced the e-visa program in 2014 so interested visitors can apply for short stay visas online without visiting the Indian consulate in their respective countries. The same courtesy has been extended to Israeli citizens, who can now apply for an e-visa online if they want to visit India for short stays.
Electronic Travel Authorization
The electronic travel authorization (ETA), or the e visa, as it is popularly called, is an online visa that functions just like a conventional visa. This visa is 100% online, so the applicant can apply for it using a smartphone from the comfort of their home. An E visa takes only 30 minutes or less to apply for and between 3-4 days to process.
Israelis who wish to visit the country may apply for any of the e-visas open to them.
