Canada offers electronic travel authorization (eTA) to eligible travellers from Indonesia and Malaysia
Starting 26 May 2026, eligible citizens of Indonesia and Malaysia can apply for a C$7 electronic travel authorization instead of a C$100 visitor visa when flying to or transiting through Canada. The move is expected to accelerate short-term business travel, free up visa-processing resources and deepen commercial ties under Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy. Employers should update compliance checklists and remind travellers that the eTA remains subject to security screening and is valid for five years.
