APEC ministers meeting in Suzhou backs cross-border paperless trade and electronic documents
At the APEC Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Suzhou, China secured agreement to fast-track mutual recognition of electronic trade documents and to streamline cross-border services regulation. The paperless-trade pledge will shorten clearance times for travellers and cargo, while planned visa and licensing simplifications support easier staff rotation within the region. The initiative dovetails with China’s domestic push for digital documentation and positions the country at the centre of regional mobility facilitation.
