      Tunisia Visa Policy

The visa policy of Tunisia mandates all visitors to have visas before they can enter the country, excluding those who are from visa-exempt countries. Tunisia has a visa waiver program that excludes certain nationalities from requiring visas for short visits. Citizens from these countries can stay in Tunisia for up to 90 days for noncommercial purposes, and they can travel to any passport-free zones of their choice. They are required to hold valid passports, which must be valid for at least 6 months from their entry date.

Tunisia also allows diplomatic and service passport holders from some countries to enter visa-free. Official passport holders from other countries also enjoy visa exemptions even if ordinary passport holders from such countries do not.

Another category of visitors that can enter Tunisia without visas are persons with GCC Residence permit.

GCC residents are noncitizens residing in Gulf Cooperation Countries. If valid permits are issued by any of these countries, they can get a visa on arrival once they arrive in Tunisia to stay for up to 15 days. The only condition is that the permit must be valid for at least 6 months from their arrival date and that they have enough funds in hand and a fully paid hotel reservation in Tunisia. These arrangements must be made before their arrival.

Citizens of some countries like China and Belarus may visit Tunisia for organized tours provided they have a hotel voucher and are traveling as a group. They can enter without visas for short visits.

      Tunisia e Visa

The electronic visa of Tunisia will be available online and is mainly for short-term visits. If you are eligible, you can apply for it and get your application approved within three days. The application form must be filled out online and submitted for processing after attaching relevant documents and paying the application fee. Applying for this visa saves you the time and stress of visiting a Tunisia foreign mission or using visa agents to secure your visa.

You can also immediately get a visa on arrival if you have your e-visa. You can get the visa from the comfort of your home and then proceed with your travel plans without any fuss.

The e-visa initiative was announced by the Tunisia government in 2017, but information has yet to be released about the official launch date. However, once it becomes official, VisaHQ we keep you informed.

Key Information About Tunisia e Visa

Print A Copy: Always travel with a printed copy of your e-visa because you will need it.

The immigration officers will request a copy at the entry point to ascertain if you are entering as a legal visitor.

You will also need it if law enforcement officers abroad accost you.

Apply At The Right Time: Your e-visa becomes active the moment it is approved and released to you, and the validity countdown begins. If you have a lot to do in Tunisia and you will most likely exhaust the entire 90 days, it is best to apply for the visa 3-4 days before your planned travel date. This will ensure that you lose fewer days outside Tunisia.

Use the Same Passport: The passport you applied for the e-visa with should be the same one you travel with. Do note that electronic visas are linked to the holder's passports. Persons who arrive with a different passport will be denied entry.

Apply Outside: You can't apply for a Tunisian visa inside Tunisia; this can only be done outside the country. In a scenario where your visa is about to expire, and you would like to remain in the country for some more time, you must leave the country first and then reapply for another visa outside.

Travel Through Approved Routes:  Despite the dozens of entry routes available, it is always best to use approved routes earmarked by the government. Your route of choice may be land, air, or sea, but make sure it is a recognized and well-traveled part.

Respect The Local Laws And Customs: Visitors are advised to respect the laws and customs during their time in the country. Although Tunisia is culturally more open than many other Muslim-majority countries, it still has its traditional laws and customs synonymous with tribes that have lived in the area for generations.

We advise you to do a quick research to learn a little about the country before making the trip.

Use The Right Documents:  The documents you use for the application must meet certain conditions; otherwise, they will be rejected. They must be yours, valid, and meet the requirements for the visa you apply for.

Don't Overstay: Avoid the temptation of overstaying your visa so you don't violate immigration law. As a foreigner, your residency in the country is only legal for as long as your visa remains valid. Should you stay a day longer after the visa expiration, you will be classified as an illegal immigrant and will be sanctioned accordingly in line with the law.
