Government sets 27 April go-live for Poland’s new MOS e-residence portal
The Office for Foreigners has confirmed that the long-awaited Case Handling Module – better known by its Polish acronym MOS – will go live nationwide on 27 April 2026. From that date, all applications for temporary residence, permanent residence and EU long-term resident permits must be filed electronically via the MOS portal; paper submissions will be rejected. The online system is Poland’s biggest immigration-process overhaul in a decade. Applicants will complete smart forms that pre-populate data from the national PESEL register, upload supporting documents and pay fees electronically. Voivodeship offices will gain a central dashboard to request additional information and issue electronic summonses, replacing the current maze of in-person appointments and postal correspondence.

If navigating this transition feels overwhelming, VisaHQ can help. Our dedicated Poland page (https://www.visahq.com/poland/) offers step-by-step guidance, document checks and real-time tracking so applicants and employers can submit MOS-compliant files quickly and confidently.

For employers, the change promises sharper visibility over case status and standardised processing times across Poland’s 16 provinces. Multinationals running high-volume work-permit sponsorships are already testing the API that will allow bulk uploading of application data from HR platforms. Yet the transition window is tight: the Office for Foreigners urges anyone whose legal stay expires on or before 11 May 2026 (two weeks after launch) to file paper applications no later than 26 April to avoid falling into unlawful status during the cut-over freeze. Global mobility managers should audit current pipelines now. Incomplete files risk being discarded if uploaded incorrectly, and employers will be liable for foreigners who over-stay because of missed deadlines. Training sessions (in Polish, English and Ukrainian) run by several chambers of commerce are scheduled for 16–22 April; places are filling fast. The MOS rollout aligns Poland with the EU’s Digital Europe agenda and is expected to cut average adjudication times by 30 %. Success will be closely watched by neighbouring states grappling with paper-heavy immigration systems.
