South Australia issues 445 invitations in April skilled-migration round
South Australia has confirmed the first invitation round of the new quarter under its 2025-26 General Skilled Migration (GSM) allocation, inviting 445 candidates across the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) and Skilled Work Regional (subclass 491) streams. Published late on 9 April 2026, the round continues the state’s push to ease chronic skills shortages in health, engineering and ICT.

Navigating the paperwork behind these skilled visas can be daunting, and this is where VisaHQ can step in. Through its Australian portal (https://www.visahq.com/australia/), VisaHQ provides document pre-screening, deadline alerts and courier services that cut down processing time for both individuals and HR departments.

The round awarded 245 subclass 190 nominations—conferring a direct pathway to permanent residence—and 200 subclass 491 nominations, which require three years’ regional residence before PR. Health professionals again topped the list with 79 invitations, followed by engineering and transport professionals (72) and ICT specialists (38). State officials noted that South Australia has now issued 2,131 invitations since 1 July 2025, already 71 percent of its annual quota. Monthly rounds will continue, giving HR teams and migration advisers a clearer timetable for workforce planning. Applicants should ensure Expressions of Interest remain accurate; minor changes in employment or English scores can shift their ranking in SkillSelect. For employers, the data signal where nomination approvals are likely to flow. Hospitals, aged-care providers and digital infrastructure projects can expect faster recruitment if roles fall within priority occupation groups. Prospective migrants, meanwhile, are reminded that evidence of job offers or regional ties can boost competitiveness as point scores creep upward in popular cohorts. The next invitation round is expected in early May. Migration agents advise candidates to update police clearances and skills assessments in advance; invitations often arrive with only 14 days to lodge a full application.
