UK Rule Changes Tighten Sponsor Compliance but Open New Path for Indian Service Suppliers
A detailed “Immigration Spotlight” published on 8 April unpacks the latest Statement of Changes to UK Immigration Rules. From today, licensed sponsors must show that Skilled Workers meet salary thresholds in every pay period, not simply on an annualised basis—a shift that will require payroll system tweaks and closer auditing.

UK Rule Changes Tighten Sponsor Compliance but Open New Path for Indian Service Suppliers

VisaHQ’s India-based specialists can help employers and assignees navigate these new UK requirements: the platform streamlines document collection, monitors application status in real time, and offers tailored guidance on sponsor-licence and work-visa filings. The reforms also revise the Global Business Mobility – Service Supplier route to honour commitments under the UK-India Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement: qualified Indian suppliers can now undertake 12-month stints instead of six, subject to an 1,800-person annual cap. For tech and consulting firms this expands scope for project-based deployments without setting up a UK entity. Other measures include the UK’s first "visa brake," automatic refusals for certain nationalities deemed at risk of abuse, and a forthcoming expansion of the Global Talent visa to cover design professionals from 1 July 2026. An increased English-language standard (B2) for settlement applications will follow in 2027, giving current Indian assignees time to upskill. Indian employers must therefore recalibrate compliance calendars: level-1 users should log into the Sponsor Management System monthly, perform right-to-work checks on contractors, and brief payroll on pay-period monitoring. Early engagement will avoid licence downgrades or revocations.
