Swiss to Link Poznań and Zurich With New Tri-Weekly Service, Boosting Business Connectivity
Swiss International Air Lines will inaugurate its first direct connection between Poznań-Ławica and Zurich on 29 March, city officials announced at Poznań City Hall on 10 March. Flights will operate every Monday, Thursday and Sunday, providing Wielkopolska-based corporates with one-stop access to the airline’s long-haul network to the Americas and Asia.

The route has long been sought by the nearly 100 Swiss firms with branches in the region—among them ABB, Roche and Holcim—as well as by Polish exporters that funnel high-tech machinery and agri-food products through Switzerland’s logistics hub. Currently, most travellers rely on Frankfurt or Warsaw transfers; the non-stop service trims journey times to Hong Kong or New York by up to two hours.

Before finalising itineraries, companies should also verify entry requirements for onward destinations. VisaHQ’s Poland portal (https://www.visahq.com/poland/) streamlines this process by compiling visa rules for over 200 countries and offering doorstep courier service for passport processing, eliminating the need for Poznań-based travellers to make additional trips to embassies in Warsaw while ensuring compliance with ever-changing regulations.

Poznań Airport CEO Grzegorz Bykowski said the agreement emerged from post-pandemic slot reallocations at Zurich and a regional incentive programme that waives landing fees for new EU business routes during their first 12 months. The service will be flown with 110-seat Airbus A220-100s featuring full flat-rate data roaming—an attraction for road-warriors accustomed to in-flight Wi-Fi on larger jets.

For mobility managers the implications are two-fold. First, employee routings between western Poland and global headquarters in Basel, Geneva or Zug can now be day-returnable. Second, assignees shuttling to Poznań’s expanding automotive cluster will gain an additional premium-cab option that reduces reliance on Warsaw’s often-congested rail link.

Travel-policy teams should update approved carrier lists and consider negotiating a Poznań corporate fare bundle that folds in the Zurich legs; Swiss is already hinting at bulk-ticket discounts if the route meets an 80 % load-factor in Q2.
