Brazil’s Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira has opened direct channels with his Qatari and Saudi counterparts to secure flight corridors for hundreds of Brazilians stranded in the Gulf after regional carriers curtailed services amid escalating Iran-Israel-US hostilities. Emirates resumed Dubai–São Paulo flights on 4 March and Rio services on 8 March, but Qatar Airways has yet to restore its Doha–São Paulo route.

According to the Itamaraty’s Consular Portal, discussions include daily charter slots from Doha plus ground transport convoys taking Brazilians to Riyadh for onward commercial connections. The ministry says up to ten Qatar Airways flights could begin departing Doha each day once security clearances are in place. Vieira has also liaised with Lebanon’s foreign minister to monitor the safety of Brazil’s sizable diaspora there.

For travelers grappling with sudden itinerary changes, VisaHQ can help by providing up-to-date visa information and expedited document processing—vital when alternative routings or emergency departures are required. The service’s Brazil portal (https://www.visahq.com/brazil/) lets users check entry rules for multiple destinations and file applications online, easing one layer of complexity while officials work on securing flight options.

Travel-risk consultants advise multinational employers with regional operations to activate evacuation plans and track staff via mobile check-ins. Four Brazilian oil-service contractors in Kuwait and Oman have already rerouted personnel through Abu Dhabi after insurers suspended cover for flights transiting Iranian airspace.

The episode underscores the fragility of Brazil’s long-haul connectivity: São Paulo depends on just three Gulf hubs—Doha, Dubai and Abu Dhabi—for links to Asia and Africa. Airlines caution that further route suspensions could disrupt global supply chains, as 30 % of Brazil’s air-cargo exports to the Middle East ride in passenger belly-hold. (anba.com.br)
