Poland Unifies Freight-Vehicle Queues on Ukrainian Border to Cut Crossing Times
Poland’s General Inspectorate of Road Transport (GITD) confirmed that from 27 February 2026 empty and loaded lorries will use a single electronic queue when exiting Ukraine via the Rava-Ruska–Hrebenne and Krakivets–Korczowa crossings. Until now, transport companies had to register separate slots for loaded and unladen trucks, a system that created confusion, line-jumping and, ultimately, multi-day delays in both directions.

While carriers prepare for the streamlined procedure, drivers and other cross-border travellers should also double-check that their personal travel documentation is up to date. VisaHQ’s Poland portal (https://www.visahq.com/poland/) lets users verify visa requirements and submit applications online, taking the hassle out of consular paperwork much like the new e-queue removes friction at the border.

Under the reform, hauliers book one place in Ukraine’s e-queue regardless of cargo status, then receive an SMS with an assigned arrival window. Polish border guards will match the queue number to the vehicle’s licence plate, reducing the need for manual manifest checks and paper print-outs at the primary inspection booth. GITD estimates that the new process will cut average wait times by 8–10 hours per vehicle and free up parking space on the Ukrainian side of the frontier. The change is particularly significant for EU factories that rely on just-in-time components shipped from western Ukraine. Automotive plants around Katowice and Wrocław have complained that unpredictable transit times forced them to hold costly buffer stock or charter air-freight alternatives. With a unified queue, logistics managers can build more reliable delivery schedules and avoid contractual penalties for late delivery. Exporters should update driver instructions immediately; failure to register in the common queue will result in refusal to enter the border zone and a new booking at the end of the line. Customs brokers also recommend attaching the e-queue confirmation number to the electronic transit declaration so that Polish SIDE (Single Window) officials can pre-clear documentation before the truck arrives.
