Alberta Runs Six Immigration Draws in Two Weeks, Issues 441 Invitations
Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) officials released a bumper update on February 22, 2026, detailing six separate draws held between February 6 and 19. In total, 441 candidates across four streams—Rural Renewal, Accelerated Tech, Law Enforcement and Priority Sectors—received invitations to apply for nomination. The eye-catcher was the very first manufacturing-focused draw under the Express Entry Priority Sectors pathway. Thirty-two profiles with experience in NOC 94-series occupations (industrial welders, machinists and metal-fabricators) were selected with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores as low as 50. Provincial officials said the pilot will run throughout 2026 to support a USD 4-billion EV battery-components plant breaking ground near Edmonton this summer. Tech employers also benefited.

Candidates who receive an AAIP invitation often need to secure work permits or arrange travel documents quickly. VisaHQ’s Canada portal (https://www.visahq.com/canada/) provides a streamlined way to handle visa and document applications, offering step-by-step guidance and real-time tracking so newcomers can focus on job offers and settlement plans instead of paperwork.

The Accelerated Tech Pathway invited 147 software engineers, data scientists and cybersecurity analysts with CRS scores of 59 or higher, continuing Alberta’s bid to compete with BC’s Tech Pilot and Ontario’s Human Capital draws. Separately, 212 invitations went to candidates endorsed by rural towns such as High Level and Taber, many of which have tightened local eligibility rules, including minimum settlement-fund thresholds and capped endorsement quotas. AAIP confirmed it has 5,791 nomination certificates left for 2026 and is managing a pool of 45,698 EOIs. Processing times remain under three months for 80 % of files, but officials warned that incomplete applications will be returned without refund as of April 1, when the new digital portal replaces e-mail submissions. For employers, the message is clear: align job descriptions with Alberta’s priority occupation list and be prepared to provide settlement support, especially in smaller communities. Recruiters say the revamped draws give companies unprecedented flexibility to hire niche talent outside major urban centres, provided salaries meet the provincial median.
