Polish intelligence tips help Croatia and Slovenia foil migrant-smuggling runs
The Bieszczady Border Guard’s operational-investigations unit announced on 11 February that intelligence it shared with partners in Croatia and Slovenia had led to two separate arrests of migrant couriers.

In Zagreb, Croatian police intercepted a Ukrainian driver transporting four Turkish nationals hidden in a private car. Days earlier Slovenian officers in Ljubljana detained a Romanian smuggler carrying four Chinese migrants. Both groups were allegedly en route to Western Europe.

Polish officers said the cross-border operation was coordinated via Europol and builds on Poland’s experience countering the Belarus-facilitated migration route. While the arrests occurred outside Polish territory, they demonstrate Warsaw’s growing role in EU efforts to dismantle smuggling networks before migrants reach the bloc’s core Schengen countries.

For legitimate travellers, ensuring the correct paperwork is in place is critical: VisaHQ’s Poland portal (https://www.visahq.com/poland/) provides up-to-date advice and application support for Schengen and global visas, helping companies and individuals navigate complex entry requirements and avoid inadvertent non-compliance.

For corporate mobility planners the news signals continued law-enforcement focus on secondary movements of third-country nationals; companies sending staff by road through the Western Balkans should expect intensified spot checks at internal Schengen borders.
