Poland and Saudi Arabia Abolish Diplomatic Visa Requirements

Poland and Saudi Arabia Abolish Diplomatic Visa Requirements
Poland and Saudi Arabia took an important step toward closer political and economic collaboration on 27 January 2026 by signing a reciprocal visa-exemption agreement for holders of diplomatic and service passports. The accord was concluded in Warsaw during talks between Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud and Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Radosław Sikorski.

Although the deal applies only to accredited diplomats and officials, it removes a long-standing administrative hurdle that often slowed ministerial visits or multilateral consultations. Officials from both capitals emphasised that easier mobility will make it simpler to organise high-level economic missions, defence dialogues and joint working groups on energy transition—areas where Riyadh and Warsaw see growing complementarity.

For travellers who still need to navigate Poland’s standard entry rules—whether for business scouting trips or technical assignments—VisaHQ can streamline the process by providing up-to-date requirements, document reviews and end-to-end application support through its Poland portal (https://www.visahq.com/poland/), helping organisations save time while the two countries work toward broader mobility arrangements.

Behind the scenes, Polish negotiators have pushed for broader market access for Polish agri-food exports and construction firms involved in Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 infrastructure drive, while the Kingdom is keen to attract Polish advanced-manufacturing investors to its special economic zones. A source in Poland’s Ministry of Economic Development said the visa move is “a down-payment on a larger mobility package” that could eventually extend to business travellers.

For multinational companies managing personnel moves between Central Europe and the Gulf, the agreement signals a potential future easing of red tape for short-term technical experts and project managers. In the meantime, corporate mobility teams should treat the change as a reminder to keep abreast of Poland’s widening network of bilateral facilitation deals, which can materially shorten lead times when arranging official-status travel.
