64 New International Flights Approved as Brazil Strengthens 2026 Air Connectivity

64 New International Flights Approved as Brazil Strengthens 2026 Air Connectivity
The Ministry of Tourism confirmed on 22 January that airlines have secured approval for 64 brand-new international routes and 16 additional weekly frequencies to begin operating between February and September 2026. The expansion, cleared by the Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC), involves carriers such as Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways, Air France, TAP, Iberia, American, Copa and several South American low-cost operators.

Travellers eager to take advantage of these freshly approved services can streamline their entry paperwork through VisaHQ, which offers fast, fully digital Brazil visa applications and real-time status tracking for individuals and corporate groups alike (https://www.visahq.com/brazil/).

Highlighted additions include three extra Doha–São Paulo services by Qatar Airways; five new weekly Punta Cana–São Paulo flights by Gol; seven Bariloche–São Paulo frequencies for Argentina’s key ski season; and fresh European services linking Fortaleza, Curitiba and Rio de Janeiro to Paris, Lisbon, Madrid and Brussels.

Strategic context: Brazil welcomed a record 9.3 million foreign tourists in 2025 and handled 28.4 million international passengers—up 13.4 % year-on-year. Officials view greater route diversity as essential to sustaining momentum, dispersing visitor flows beyond the São Paulo-Rio axis and supporting inbound investment.

Business-mobility impact: Multinationals with operations in energy, agritech and technology clusters outside the southeast will benefit from shorter itineraries and reduced reliance on domestic connections. Travel managers should revisit preferred-carrier agreements as competitive capacity puts downward pressure on fares. Companies planning events during Brazil’s busy July and December peaks may need to revise budgets to account for increased seat availability but also for potential airport-infrastructure strain.

Environmental note: ANAC stated that slot allocations considered each airline’s fleet-modernisation commitments, including the deployment of more fuel-efficient Airbus A321XLRs and Boeing 787s, aligning capacity growth with Brazil’s decarbonisation goals. Further announcements are expected after the IATA Northern-Winter scheduling conference in March.
