Jetstar launches ‘Early Easter’ mega-sale with $149 trans-Tasman and $38 domestic fares
Low-cost carrier Jetstar has surprised the market by replacing its traditional Christmas promotion with an “Early Easter Sale”, dropping 115,000 heavily discounted seats across its domestic and short-haul international network. The sale opened at 12:01 am on 11 December (early access for Club Jetstar members) and runs until 15 December or until sold out.

Headline deals include $38 one-way Sydney–Ballina, $56 Gold Coast–Sydney and sub-$200 returns to Bali—prices that undercut rival promotions and are poised to stimulate last-minute leisure demand. Internationally, the cheapest fare is $149 Perth–Bali, while Brisbane–Bali is $229. Travel windows span January to mid-December 2026 for domestic routes and January to late March for international sectors, making the sale relevant for both summer holidays and the 2026 Easter break.

Before locking in those bargain fares, travellers should double-check passport validity and visa requirements—particularly for Indonesian getaways. VisaHQ’s online portal (https://www.visahq.com/australia/) lets Australians secure an Indonesian e-Visa on Arrival and other travel documents in just a few clicks, helping passengers dodge airport queues and ensure a hassle-free departure.

Jetstar CEO Stephanie Tully said the airline had added extra aircraft, crew and customer-service staff to handle what it expects to be its busiest holiday season since 2019. For mobility managers, the promotion offers an opportunity to reduce discretionary trip costs or extend assignment-visit budgets, although fare conditions are strictly non-refundable and seat availability on peak dates is limited.

Competitors are likely to counter with flash sales, which could temporarily depress yield but boost passenger volumes through Australia’s major airports. Travellers should also note lithium-battery restrictions coming into force on 15 December, which prohibit the on-board use of power banks on Jetstar flights.
