Ryanair Restores Warsaw-Modlin Links to Edinburgh and Glasgow for Summer 2026

Ryanair Restores Warsaw-Modlin Links to Edinburgh and Glasgow for Summer 2026
Low-cost giant Ryanair confirmed on 8 December that it will reinstate twice-weekly services from Warsaw-Modlin to Edinburgh and Glasgow starting 29 March 2026. The Scottish routes were suspended during the pandemic and had not returned due to aircraft allocation priorities.

The decision follows months of lobbying by the Polish diaspora in Scotland—estimated at 120,000—who complained of high fares and poor connectivity to central Poland. The restored flights will depart Modlin on Thursday/Sunday (Edinburgh) and Friday/Sunday (Glasgow), operated by 189-seat Boeing 737-800s.

For corporate mobility programmes, the reinstatement reduces travel times for technicians and IT contractors commuting between Polish headquarters and client sites in Scotland, eliminating transfers in London or Amsterdam. Ticket sales open this week with lead-in fares advertised at PLN 159 one way, undercutting incumbent LOT/Lufthansa options via Frankfurt by more than 50 %.

Modlin Airport, 40 km north of Warsaw, is investing PLN 350 million to extend its terminal and runway by 2027 to handle Ryanair’s growing fleet of 737 MAX-10s. Employers should note that late-night return slots arrive after midnight in Warsaw; travel policies may need to clarify permissible ground-transport and duty-of-care arrangements.
