In a confidence-building step, the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi announced that it will launch a fully online visa application platform for Indian citizens on 22 December 2025. Applicants will complete forms, upload documents and book biometrics appointments through the portal, reducing paper submissions and travel to the visa centre.
The move complements Beijing’s earlier decision to restore tourist visas for Indian nationals and follows the resumption of Delhi–Beijing non-stops in October. For Indian corporates the digital system promises shorter processing times—industry agents expect standard M visas for business trips to fall from 7–10 working days to 4–5.
Importantly, the embassy confirmed that existing visa fee discounts (single-entry ₹2,900) remain unchanged until at least mid-2026. The online rollout will initially cover New Delhi before extending to Mumbai and Kolkata consulates in March. Travel managers should update employee visa checklists, ensuring high-resolution uploads of invitation letters and Covid-vaccination certificates, which remain mandatory for travellers from India.
