Beijing–Muscat Non-stop Service Takes Off, Opening New Gulf Corridor

Beijing–Muscat Non-stop Service Takes Off, Opening New Gulf Corridor
China Eastern Airlines’ inaugural flight MU2051 departed Beijing Daxing at 14:00 local time on 30 November and landed in Muscat at 19:55, inaugurating China’s first non-stop link to Oman. The twice-weekly A330-300 service (Sundays and Wednesdays) trims travel time to under ten hours and eliminates the need to connect via Dubai or Doha.

Omani officials staged a water-cannon salute and hailed the route as a ‘bridge of friendship’ that will deepen tourism, trade and investment ties. Oman Airports CEO Ahmed Al Amri said Beijing adds strategic weight to Muscat’s ambition of becoming a logistics and passenger hub linking Asia, Africa and Europe.

For Chinese exporters the direct belly-hold capacity offers faster delivery of electronics and high-value perishables, while Omani oil-services firms gain a shorter path to Beijing-based partners. Travel-management companies expect demand from project engineers, energy executives and high-end leisure groups headed for desert resorts near Salalah.

The launch comes as China’s unilateral visa-waiver policy now covers Oman, allowing Omani passport-holders 30-day visa-free stays in China until at least end-2026. Corporates on both sides should update mobility policies to leverage the simplified entry rules and the new non-stop option when planning rotations and client visits.
