UAE fuel-price hike to hit December travel budgets

UAE fuel-price hike to hit December travel budgets
The UAE Fuel Price Committee has lifted pump prices across all grades for December 2025, reinstating levels last seen in September. From 1 December, Super 98 climbs to AED 2.70 per litre, Special 95 to AED 2.58 and diesel to AED 2.85. The seven-fils rise reverses November’s modest dip and is directly pegged to global crude benchmarks under the country’s liberalised pricing model.

While a difference of seven fils per litre may sound marginal, ground-transport specialists calculate that an average company pool car covering 5,000 km a month will incur roughly AED 25 extra in fuel costs in December. For mobility managers running fleets of 100 vehicles or more, the uptick could translate into a four-figure hit over the festive peak.

Ride-hailing platforms such as Careem and Uber typically adjust fare multipliers in line with pump costs; peak-season surcharges could therefore edge higher just as inbound tourist traffic surges. Logistics providers are also expected to pass on a fuel surcharge in domestic courier and relocation-van tariffs.

Action steps: • Audit December relocation quotes for hidden fuel escalators. • Recommend fuel-efficient vehicle classes for airport transfers. • Encourage employees to refuel before the 1 December price switch if tanks are low.
