Border Guard Reports 20 Illegal Crossing Attempts on Belarus Frontier
The Podlaski Border Guard reported more than 20 attempts to breach Poland’s border with Belarus on 25 November, concentrated near the Białowieża and Czeremcha sectors. Some migrants retreated when confronted; others were detained on the patrol road itself.

Since January the Podlaski unit has recorded unauthorised entries by nationals of more than 35 countries, predominantly from Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Somalia, Eritrea, Pakistan and Iraq. The agency notes that hybrid-migration pressure continues despite the completion of Poland’s steel barrier and motion-sensor system along the 186-km stretch.

The latest incidents underscore the continued relevance of the 78-km buffer zone and internal Schengen checks. Employers whose staff transit the Suwałki Gap or operate logistics hubs near Białystok are advised to monitor Border Guard bulletins and build time buffers into schedules during peak migration alerts.

Human-rights NGOs have called on Poland to ensure access to asylum procedures, while the government insists deterrence measures are necessary for national security. The political debate is likely to intensify ahead of next spring’s EU migration-pact implementation deadline.
