The Chinese Visa Application Service Center (CVASC) in Phnom Penh issued a notice dated 17 November outlining its end-of-year holiday schedule. The centre will be closed on Monday, 29 December 2025. As a result, passport-pickup dates for applications lodged on 24-26 December move forward or backward by up to three days (see table in the official notice). Applicants are advised to file early to avoid post-holiday backlogs, which CVASC expects to last “a few days.”
Why this matters
Cambodia is a key hub for Chinese manufacturing supply chains and a popular visa-run destination for long-stay foreigners in China. The one-day closure could catch travellers unaware during a period of heavy seasonal traffic. Mobility coordinators moving staff through Phnom Penh for visa issuance should:
• Reschedule appointments to 23 December or earlier.
• Factor in courier lead times for documents.
• Communicate the revised pickup windows to relocating employees to avoid overstay penalties in Cambodia.
The notice highlights CVASC’s dynamic fee-adjustment mechanism introduced in August, under which service-centre charges are pegged to USD exchange-rate bands. No additional fee change accompanies the December closure.
