Ahead of the international T100 Triathlon, Dubai’s RTA issued a second advisory detailing Saturday road closures and an AED 6 Salik charge during the 06:00–10:00 window on November 15. Streets along the coastal race route—including sections of Jumeirah Beach Road—were closed intermittently for the 2 km swim and 18 km run legs.
Event organisers coordinated with Dubai Police and ambulance services to ensure emergency-lane access, while DXB’s Landside Operations team reported no flight delays but cautioned passengers to factor in extra time for curb-side drop-off.
Hotels near the World Trade Centre offered free shuttle buses, and some multinationals encouraged visiting executives to make use of the Metro’s Red Line to avoid peak-hour congestion.
Although the measure lasted only a few hours, the Salik surcharge sparked debate on social media about whether event-driven toll changes should be announced further in advance. RTA officials replied that the early-morning schedule was chosen to minimise disruption and that revenue from the surcharge funds road-safety campaigns.
