Dubai Airports to showcase world’s first fully sustainable aircraft turnaround at Dubai Airshow 2025

Dubai Airports to showcase world’s first fully sustainable aircraft turnaround at Dubai Airshow 2025
Dubai Airports, in partnership with dnata, flydubai and more than 30 industry players, will unveil a dedicated Sustainability Showcase when the Dubai Airshow opens on 17 November. The exhibit will demonstrate an end-to-end ‘green turnaround’ that uses electric or hydrogen ground-service vehicles, bio-jet fuel, smart energy-management dashboards and circular-economy waste systems.

Although the display is set inside an airshow, the implications for daily mobility are tangible. Faster, low-emission turnarounds translate into shorter block times and lower landing fees – savings that carriers often pass on to corporate travel buyers based in the UAE. Dubai Airports says many showcased vehicles are locally sourced, underscoring the emirate’s push to become a hub for green-aviation technology exports.

Executives will run live demonstrations around a flydubai narrow-body, walking visitors through six themes: sustainable turnaround, electric-vehicle fleets, hydrogen refuelling, biofuels, energy management and circularity. More than forty pieces of equipment – from solar-powered waste compactors to electric baggage tractors – will be in operation.

For travel-programme managers, the key takeaway is that airlines able to prove greener ground operations at DXB and DWC may qualify for future carbon-offset exemptions being drafted by UAE regulators. Companies with Scope-3 reporting obligations should monitor these developments, as verified emission cuts at hubs where staff frequently transit could lower corporate footprints.

The showcase feeds into Dubai Airports’ broader decarbonisation roadmap, which includes net-zero buildings, low-emission airside fleets and smart-grid utilities. By publicising concrete results during the Airshow, the operator aims to nudge both regulators and carriers toward mandatory sustainability baselines before 2030.
