Security tightened at Delhi Airport; passengers advised to arrive early
Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) issued an early-morning advisory on 12 November urging travellers to reach Indira Gandhi International Airport well ahead of departure after security agencies stepped up screening protocols in the wake of intelligence alerts in the capital.

Additional CISF personnel, sniffer-dog units and secondary baggage checks have been deployed at Terminal 3’s international pier, lengthening queue times at both immigration and security. Airlines reported average processing delays of 20–30 minutes during the morning peak. DIAL said it is working with immigration and airline partners to open alternate counters and fast-track lanes for tight connections.

Corporate travel managers should revise pick-up schedules: check-in desks for many carriers now close 75 minutes before departure instead of the customary 60. Travellers enrolled in India’s Fast-Track Immigration–Trusted Traveller Programme can still use e-gates, but are being randomly selected for manual screening.

Cargo and crew movements remain unaffected, yet freight forwarders have been asked to file manifests four hours earlier than usual. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security has not disclosed the duration of heightened measures, but officials privately expect the regime to last through the upcoming festival season.

Companies with time-critical travel—especially connecting to the Gulf and ASEAN morning banks—should warn employees and consider pre-booking meet-and-assist services to avoid missed flights.
