Brazilian Passport Climbs to 16th Place in Global Mobility Index, Boosting Visa-Free Access
A tourism-market roundup released on 27 October highlighted that Brazil’s passport has risen to 16th position in the 2025 Henley & Partners Global Mobility Report, granting visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 170 destinations—its strongest performance since 2019.

Brazil now ties with Argentina and San Marino and sits just behind Chile, which retains the region’s top spot with 176 destinations. The improvement follows China’s decision in June 2025 to waive short-stay visas for Brazilian nationals and the EU’s renewal of its visa-free regime under the EU-LAC Mobility Accord.

For Brazilian corporations the ranking jump reduces lead times for sending staff on urgent assignments, particularly to Asian manufacturing hubs. Mobility teams, however, are reminded that many countries still require work permits even when entry visas are waived, and that Brazil’s own reciprocity policy will introduce fees for U.S. travellers from 10 April 2026 unless a bilateral deal is reached.

Travel-management companies anticipate a 6 % year-on-year increase in outbound corporate trips in 2026, driven partly by the easier access to China and South-East Asia. Airlines are already responding: LATAM will add three weekly São Paulo–Beijing flights in March 2026, while Emirates plans to up-gauge its Dubai–Rio service to an A380.

Global assignment specialists nonetheless advise companies to monitor passport inventory closely; the Federal Police reports a 19-day average for new-passport issuance in major cities but up to 45 days in smaller jurisdictions due to post-pandemic backlogs.
