• Travelers aged 18 or older may bring 1 of these alcohol combinations: 1 L of spirits over 22% (up to 60%) + 1 L of fortified wine up to 22% + 2 L of beer or cider (up to 5.8%); or 1 L of spirits + 2.25 L of table wine + 2 L of beer or cider; or 2.25 L of fortified wine + 2 L of beer or cider; or 4.5 L of table wine + 2 L of beer or cider; or 10 L of beer or cider.
• Travelers aged 18 or older: 200 cigarettes or 100 cigarillos or 50 cigars or 250 g of tobacco or 250 g of snuff (including nicotine pouches).
• 50 g of perfume and 25 cl of aftershave.
• Up to 3 kg of chocolate or sweets and up to 10 L of soda.
• Other goods for personal use with a total value of up to DKK 2,500 (excluding VAT). Above this amount, duty is charged on the full value. Items that belong together cannot be split across trips or travelers to stay under the limit.
• The allowances apply to all travelers arriving in the Faroe Islands and may be used once every 24 hours.
Currency
• The currency is the Faroese króna, which is equal in value to the Danish krone (DKK).
• Cash equal to EUR 10,000 or more must be declared to customs (TAKS) when entering the Faroe Islands.
Prohibited

• Dogs and cats brought for holidays, short stays of less than 3 months or transit
• Dangerous dog breeds and hybrid breeds such as wolfdogs
Restricted
• Above the duty-free allowance, travelers aged 18 or older may bring in total up to 3 L of spirits (22-60%), 9 L of wine or other alcohol up to 22% and 10 L of beer or cider, if duty is paid. Anything above these amounts is confiscated.
• Use the red channel if you carry goods above the allowances or special goods such as a dog or cat. Not declaring goods can lead to a fine.
• Weapons, including firearms and ammunition, and fireworks need an import permit from the Faroese Police. You must be 18 or older. Without a permit, they are held by customs.
• Live animals need a permit from the Faroese Food and Veterinary Authority (Heilsufrøðiliga Starvsstovan, hfs.fo). Dogs and cats may only be brought by permanent residents or people moving to the Faroe Islands. They need an import permit applied for at least 6 business days before departure, a microchip, vaccinations including rabies, parasite treatments and a recent veterinary health certificate. Conditions depend on the country of origin, and a fee applies (from DKK 750).
• Meat, medicine and other goods such as narcotics are subject to special import rules: some are banned and others need a permit. Check with TAKS or the Food and Veterinary Authority before travel.
