• From another EU country: no limits on goods for your own use, for use by your household or your private guests (goods bought as gifts do not count as own use for excise goods). Above these guide levels customs may ask you to show that tobacco and alcohol are for your own use: 800 cigarettes, 400 cigarillos (max. 3 g each), 200 cigars, 1 kg of smoking tobacco, 10 L of spirits, 20 L of fortified wine (up to 22%), 90 L of wine and 110 L of beer.
• From another EU country, age limits: tobacco and drinks over 16.4% alcohol only for travelers aged 18 or older; travelers aged 16 or 17 may bring only beer and wine up to 16.4% alcohol.
• From a non-EU country, for travelers aged 17 or older: 200 cigarettes or 100 cigarillos (max. 3 g each) or 50 cigars or 250 g of smoking tobacco.
• From a non-EU country, for travelers aged 17 or older: 1 L of spirits over 22% alcohol or 2 L of fortified wine up to 22% alcohol, plus 4 L of table wine and 16 L of beer.
• From a non-EU country: other goods for personal use or gifts up to DKK 3,250 per traveler arriving by air or sea and DKK 2,250 per traveler arriving by other means of transport. Alcohol and tobacco do not count towards these amounts.
• Fuel in the standard tank of a vehicle plus up to 10 L in spare cans.
• The Faroe Islands and Greenland are not part of the EU for customs purposes: travelers arriving from there get the non-EU allowances.
Currency
• Denmark's currency is the Danish krone (DKK).
• Travelers entering Denmark must declare cash of EUR 10,000 or more (about DKK 75,000, in any currency) to the Danish Customs Agency, whether arriving from a non-EU country or from another EU country, and also when only in transit. Cash includes banknotes, coins, bearer instruments such as traveler's cheques, gold coins (at least 90% gold) and gold bars or nuggets (at least 99.5% gold). Undeclared cash can be fined and seized.
Prohibited
• Meat, milk and products made from them from non-EU countries (limited exceptions apply, for example for powdered infant milk, infant food and special medical food)
• Fireworks (private individuals may not bring any fireworks into Denmark, even CE-marked ones)
• Dogs of 13 banned breeds and their crossbreeds, including for holidays: Pit Bull Terrier, Tosa Inu, American Staffordshire Terrier, Fila Brasileiro, Dogo Argentino, American Bulldog, Boerboel, Kangal, Central Asian Shepherd Dog, Caucasian Shepherd Dog, South Russian Shepherd Dog, Tornjak and Sarplaninac. Transit is allowed only if the dog stays in the vehicle, apart from brief exercise stops
• Illegal drugs

• Other food of animal origin from non-EU countries: up to 2 kg of powdered infant milk, infant food or special medical food (in unopened commercial packaging, not needing refrigeration), up to 20 kg of fish or fishery products (or one fish, whichever weighs more), and limited amounts of eggs and honey.
• Plants, fruit, vegetables, cut flowers and seeds from non-EU countries need a phytosanitary (plant health) certificate. Pineapples, coconuts, bananas, durians and dates are exempt.
• Endangered species of plants and animals and products made from them (CITES), such as ivory, coral, reptile skins and tortoiseshell, need CITES permits.
• Medicines for personal use must have been legally bought and should be carried with documentation, such as a prescription or receipt. Medicines containing narcotic substances: up to 30 days' treatment. From non-EU countries, antibiotics are limited to 3 months' treatment, and doping substances need a prescription and are limited to 3 months' treatment.
• Pets (dogs, cats, ferrets) need a microchip, a rabies vaccination given at 12 weeks of age or older and at least 21 days before travel, and an EU pet passport or, from a non-EU country, an official EU animal health certificate. From most non-EU countries a rabies antibody (titer) test is also required, at least 3 months before travel; it is not needed from listed countries such as the United States, Canada, the UK, Australia and Japan. Pets from non-EU countries must enter through a designated travelers' point of entry. No more than 5 pets per traveler.
• Firearms, ammunition, explosives and many other weapons need a permit from the Danish Police. Visitors staying up to three months, for example for hunting or a competition, need a European Firearms Pass or a firearms declaration.
• Flick knives, butterfly knives, knuckledusters, tasers and pepper spray need a police permit, which is granted only in exceptional cases. Knives with a blade longer than 12 cm need a permit unless used for a legitimate purpose such as work, sport, hunting or fishing.
• Goods from non-EU countries above the duty-free allowances, goods for commercial use and restricted goods must be declared to customs (red channel).
