Croatia is not as popular as many other European countries, but one to inf many don’t know is that the country is one of the most beautiful countries ever. The small EU country is located in Central Europe and borders the Mediterranean Sea, and some of the finest spots in the country are on the sea coast. Every year, tourists looking to enjoy a nice warm holiday visit places like Dubrovnik at certain times of the year. Blessed with nice weather, great history, and two seasons, this is the perfect getaway for those looking to blow off steam. If you would like to visit Croatia as a tourist, you need a Croatia tourist visa.

Who Needs To Apply For A Croatia Tourist Visa?

The visa is for those who are not from visa-exempt countries. Croatia grants visa waivers to citizens of member EU states, so they don’t need a visa to enter the country. Then there are citizens from countries who can stay for up to 90 days without a visa but must secure one if they wish to stay for much longer.

Croatia is a member of the EU and, as such, has a very similar visa policy to countries of other EU states. Travelers who don’t need a visa must have a passport that is valid for at least three months, but others who require a visa must present a passport with nothing less than 6 months of validity.

What Can I Do With A Tourist Visa?

A tourist visa is solely for tourist visas. It is not for a long stay but for short ones. Travelers are advised not to apply for this visa if their intention is to visit for family reunification, work, study, or any other purpose that will keep them inside Croatia for a long time. A tourist visa allows you to travel to any part of Croatia to enjoy the pleasant weather and visit famous landmarks and heritage sites, among others, as long as your visa remains valid.

You can also use a tourist visa for short-term business trips and medical treatments at any Croatian medical facility. The visa is valid for 180 days and allows the holder to stay in the country for a maximum period of 90 days.

Types Of Croatian Tourist Visas

Three types of tourist visas dictate the number of times you can enter the country.

Single Entry Visa: A Single entry visa is designed for one use only. You can enter Croatia only once with it, after which it expires and cannot be reused again even if you leave the country several days or weeks before it expires.

Double Entry Visa: The double entry visa allows the holder to enter, exit, and re-enter Croatia a second time within the validity period. This one does not expire the first time you exit as long as it remains valid.

Multiple Entry Visa: The third one is the multiple entry visa and is the preferred option for those who wish to enter and exit the country several times. If you plan to visit for short stays multiple times, this option will save you the stress and resources of applying for a new Croatian visa each time you wish to visit Croatia.

Note: The Tourist Visa of Croatia is similar to the Schengen countries even though it is not a Schengen member yet.

Croatia Tourist Visa Requirements

You must submit several documents alongside the visa application form when applying for a Croatian tourist visa. We review the visa application process below.

Completed Croatian visa Application Form: The applicant must complete the visa application form with their details. Minors are not qualified to fill out the form independently, so their parents or legal guardians must fill and sign it on their behalf. Applicants must ensure that they only provide valid information.

Passport: A valid passport is an important document. The passport must be valid for at least 3 months from the date the applicant plans to enter the country. The passport must also contain at least one blank visa page for Croatia visa stamps. All passport pages must be scanned and uploaded on the application form.

Pictures: Two recent passport-size colored photographs must be uploaded. The photos must be clear, uploaded in 35mmx45mm, and taken on a white background. Applicants must stand at the center of the images and not wear any headgear or glasses that may distort or cover any section of their faces.

Health Insurance: An active health insurance that can cover at least expenses of €30,000 in case of repatriation, sudden illness, or accidents during their time in the country.

Accommodation: Proof of accommodation such as hotel reservation. A copy of the reservation will suffice.

Return Ticket: A copy of the return ticket back to their home country after the 90 day stay or at the end of their vacation.

Proof of funds: A Bank statement for the past three months to show proof of funds for the last three months. The account must also contain sufficient balance to cover the living expenses of the visitor all through their stay in the country.

Employer Letter: If the applicant is an employee in their home country, they must present a letter from their employer on the company letterhead stating the applicant’s position, trip purpose, and salary.

The authorities may require extra documents, but the above are the basic ones required from interested tourists.
