• From another EU country: no limits on goods for personal use. Above these guide levels customs may ask you to show that tobacco and alcohol are for your own use: 800 cigarettes, 400 cigarillos, 200 cigars, 1 kg of smoking tobacco, 10 L of spirits, 20 L of fortified wine and other alcoholic beverages up to 22%, 90 L of wine (of which no more than 60 L sparkling wine) and 110 L of beer.
• From a non-EU country, for travelers aged 17 or older: 200 cigarettes or 100 cigarillos or 50 cigars or 250 g of smoking tobacco.
• From a non-EU country, for travelers aged 17 or older: 1 L of spirits over 22% alcohol or 2 L of alcoholic beverages up to 22% alcohol, plus 4 L of still wine and 16 L of beer.
• From a non-EU country: other goods for personal use or gifts up to EUR 430 per traveler arriving by air or sea, EUR 300 per traveler arriving by other means of transport, and EUR 175 for travelers under 15.
• Fuel: up to 10 L in a portable container.
• Medicines in amounts matching your personal needs.
Currency
• Travelers entering Belgium from a non-EU country must declare cash of EUR 10,000 or more (or the equivalent in other currencies). Cash includes banknotes, coins, bearer negotiable instruments such as traveler's cheques, and gold coins and gold bullion.
• When arriving from another EU country, travelers must declare cash of EUR 10,000 or more if asked by customs.
• Failing to declare, or making an incorrect declaration, leads to penalties.
Prohibited
• Meat, milk and products made from them from non-EU countries (products from Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, San Marino and Switzerland are allowed)
• Illegal drugs, including cannabis
Restricted
• Other food of animal origin from non-EU countries: up to 2 kg of powdered infant milk, infant food or special medical food or pet food (brand-packaged, unopened, no refrigeration needed), up to 20 kg of fish or fishery products (or one fish if heavier), and up to 2 kg of other products such as honey and eggs.
• Plants, fruit, vegetables, cut flowers and seeds from non-EU countries need a phytosanitary (plant health) certificate; a few fruits, such as bananas and pineapples, are exempt.
• Endangered species of plants and animals and products made from them (CITES), such as ivory, coral, reptile skins, furs and some woods, need CITES permits.
• Pets (dogs, cats, ferrets) need a microchip, a rabies vaccination given at 12 weeks of age or older and at least 21 days before travel, and an EU pet passport or, from a non-EU country, an official EU animal health certificate issued no more than 10 days before arrival, plus a written declaration that the trip is non-commercial. From most non-EU countries a rabies antibody (titer) test is also required, taken at least 30 days after vaccination and at least 3 months before travel; it is not needed from listed countries such as the United States, Canada, the UK, Australia and Japan. No more than 5 pets per traveler.
• Firearms and ammunition: holders of a European Firearms Pass traveling for hunting or sport shooting may bring the firearms listed in the pass temporarily, with proof of the purpose of the trip (for example an invitation). Other travelers, including those from non-EU countries, need an import licence from the competent regional authority (Flanders, Wallonia or Brussels-Capital Region) before arrival.
