Doing it yourself

Best of luck
  • Government forms in foreign legaleseDecipher requirements that change without notice, in a language and format that vary by country.
  • Phone trees and dead-end emailsHours on hold, then a generic auto-reply 5 business days later — if at all.
  • Surprise fees at every stepNotary, courier, expedited handling, embassy stamp — each billed separately, often after you've paid.
  • Standing in line at the consulateDay off work, parking, queue — and there's no guarantee they accept walk-ins.
  • One small mistake = restartWrong photo size or missing notarization sends the whole package back. Travel plans slip.
