Hong Kong’s tourism minister said on 8 April that the SAR is negotiating with Japan, South Korea, the US and others to abolish flight and testing rules that still single out Greater China arrivals. Removing the caps would restore critical long-haul connectivity, lower compliance costs for corporate travel planners and help the territory’s hospitality sector recover.
Major mainland carriers hike domestic fuel surcharges six-fold
Effective 5 April, China’s three largest airlines and key affiliates raised domestic fuel surcharges from 10/20 yuan to 60/120 yuan per passenger segment, blaming higher jet-fuel costs. The six-fold jump will materially raise internal mobility budgets and may push businesses to book rail or negotiate higher travel allowances.
