Rail closure at Havířov will cut METRANS Ostrava terminal off from 10-12 April, disrupting Czech-German intermodal flows

Intermodal operator METRANS has alerted customers that a planned track closure at Havířov station will sever rail access to its Ostrava hub from 20:00 on Friday 10 April until 17:00 on Sunday 12 April. The notice, issued on 7 April, means that all shuttle trains linking Ostrava with the nationwide METRANS network – and with the key Česká Třebová gateway – will be suspended for 45 hours. During the outage the terminal will remain open for truck deliveries, trans-shipment and empty-container depot services, but clients moving time-sensitive imports and exports between Czechia, Germany and Polish seaports must reschedule or divert. The weekend block is part of Czech Railways’ €110 million modernisation of the Bohumín–Český Těšín corridor, a busy freight artery connecting to the cross-border Silesian industrial zone.
