China rolls out electronic Border Management Area Permit—new process for Hong Kong travellers from 15 April

From 15 April 2026 China will scrap paper Border Management Area Permits and issue electronic versions instead. Hong Kong residents must apply in person but can receive the e-permit by email and present it on a mobile device when travelling to restricted frontier zones, promising faster checkpoint clearance but new administrative steps for employers.
