Spain creates new registry so unions and NGOs can file residency applications for migrants

Spain has opened an Electronic Register that will accredit trade unions and NGOs to lodge residence and work-permit applications on behalf of migrants. The move aims to de-clog immigration offices and underpins the government’s plan to regularise more than half a million undocumented people. For employers, the reform could accelerate the availability of much-needed workers and simplify compliance.
