The Polish Chamber of Tourism (PIT) has issued an industry-wide notice outlining consumer rights after a wave of flight cancellations linked to the West Asia conflict. Published on 2 March, the circular reminds tour operators that, under Poland’s Package Travel Act, they must provide travellers with either a full refund within 14 days or a comparable trip at no additional cost when the organiser is forced to cancel.

For travellers who suddenly find themselves rebooked to a new country, visa requirements can become an unexpected hurdle. VisaHQ’s Warsaw-based specialists can quickly confirm entry rules, obtain expedited e-visas, and even handle passport logistics on behalf of customers or travel managers. More information and a simple eligibility checker are available at https://www.visahq.com/poland/

Major agencies such as Itaka and Rainbow are already proactively rebooking customers on Mediterranean or Canary Islands packages, PIT said, adding that 68 percent of affected clients have so far accepted alternative destinations rather than postponing. Operators are also waiving change fees on bookings to Egypt, Oman and Jordan for departures up to 20 March, reflecting uncertainty over regional air corridors.

The advisory comes as consumer-protection watchdog UOKiK starts monitoring refund timelines, warning that delays could trigger administrative fines of up to 10 percent of annual turnover. In 2020 the regulator fined several agencies during the Covid-19 crisis, and it has signalled it will take a similarly hard line in 2026.

For mobility managers, the guidance is a useful precedent: although it targets leisure travel, the Package Travel Act also covers incentive trips and some rotational assignments arranged through TMCs. Corporate teams should therefore verify whether any upcoming group movements fall under the legislation and, if so, secure written commitments on refunds or rerouting options.

PIT advises travellers to monitor the ‘Loty Bezpieczeństwa’ section of its website for daily updates on carrier policies and to contact organisers rather than airlines directly when a flight is part of a package.
