LATAM Boosts Yet-To-Launch Amsterdam–São Paulo Route to Six Weekly Flights
LATAM Airlines will launch its new Amsterdam (AMS)–São Paulo/Guarulhos (GRU) service on 30 March 2026 with six weekly flights instead of the four originally filed, the carrier announced on 2 March. The decision comes one month before inaugural operations and reflects higher-than-forecast bookings following Brazil’s visa-waiver expansion.

Route details: The flight will operate daily except Tuesdays using Boeing 787-9 aircraft configured with 303 seats (30 business, 273 economy). From 18 April onward, LATAM plans to go daily if slot approvals materialise. Amsterdam becomes LATAM’s fifth European gateway after Madrid, Barcelona, Paris and Frankfurt, giving the group a northern-Europe hub that feeds connections to Scandinavia and Eastern Europe via joint-venture partner Air France-KLM.

Strategic context: Brazil-Netherlands trade hit US$10 billion in 2025, and Dutch FDI in Brazil topped US$20 billion, led by energy and agritech. The new capacity will facilitate executive travel between corporate headquarters in Rotterdam/Amsterdam and Brazilian operations in São Paulo’s ABC industrial belt. For leisure, the route shortens itineraries for Dutch cruise passengers embarking in Rio or Santos.

Practical impact: Holders of Dutch passports now enjoy 30-day visa-free entry; companies can therefore schedule short turnaround trips without the 10-day e-Visa lead time. Travellers should note that the nighttime eastbound arrival at GRU (04:55) gives same-day connections to 45 domestic cities, cutting layovers.

For passengers whose nationalities still require documentation—such as connecting travelers residing in the EU without Dutch passports—VisaHQ can simplify the process. Its online portal (https://www.visahq.com/brazil/) provides step-by-step guidance, digital document uploads, and optional expedited service so that visitors secure the correct Brazilian visa well ahead of their departure date.

Outlook: If load factors stay above 80 % in Q2, LATAM is expected to deploy a second daily frequency in the 2026/27 winter schedule, positioning GRU as the main South American hub with nonstop links to all three Benelux capitals by 2027.
