Paris axes RoissyBus: what corporate travellers need to know about transfers from Charles de Gaulle
From 28 February the direct RoissyBus shuttle between Paris-Opéra and Charles de Gaulle Airport disappears, transport authority Île-de-France-Mobilités confirmed on the eve of the change. Falling passenger numbers since the pandemic and a push to cut traffic congestion in central Paris sealed the decision. Business travellers now have four realistic options. 1) RER B suburban rail remains the fastest public-transport link, taking 45 minutes to Gare du Nord or Châtelet-Les Halles for €14. 2) A brand-new Express 9517 bus runs every 15 minutes from the airport to Saint-Denis-Pleyel, where travellers connect to fully-automated Metro Line 14 into the city centre – a boon for those with luggage but less suitable for mobility-impaired passengers because many historic Metro stations lack lifts. 3) Licensed taxis keep their fixed flat fares (€56 Right Bank / €65 Left Bank), although rush-hour journeys can exceed an hour. 4) Ride-hailing apps operate surge pricing and do not respect the official tariff ceiling. A fifth option, the dedicated CDG Express train, will not open until March 2027. Companies with frequent flyers should update travel policies immediately: allow extra time for the bus-plus-Metro combination, pre-book taxi vouchers for mobility-restricted staff, and revise arrival instructions in onboarding packs. Travel-management companies report that many employees believed RoissyBus was still running and scheduled meetings too tightly; automatic policy alerts can prevent missed appointments. The cut also intersects with France’s phased Entry/Exit System (EES) rollout: delays at airport immigration for non-EU nationals have lengthened since October 2025. Arriving passengers, especially Britons and Americans, should add 30-40 minutes at border control until biometric kiosks are fully operational.

For any traveller who also needs to secure visas or verify entry requirements ahead of departure, VisaHQ can streamline the paperwork. Its dedicated France portal (https://www.visahq.com/france/) provides up-to-date guidance, online applications, and optional courier collection, removing administrative headaches for both individuals and corporate travel teams.

Combining EES queues with additional ground-transport legs could push door-to-downtown journeys beyond two hours during peak periods. Corporate mobility teams may find it cost-effective to use chauffeured electric shuttles that can utilise bus-lanes and offer wi-fi for en-route meetings, offsetting lost productivity. Looking ahead, CDG Express promises a 20-minute dash to Gare de l’Est, but at €24 per ticket it will be Europe’s priciest airport rail link. Budget accordingly for 2027 travel forecasts, and monitor whether French tax authorities will class the premium fare as a taxable benefit in kind if reimbursed by employers.
