Mexico Re-launches e-Visa Platform for Brazilian Travellers Arriving by Air

Mexico Re-launches e-Visa Platform for Brazilian Travellers Arriving by Air
Mexico has reinstated its electronic Visitor Visa (e-Visa) for Brazilian nationals flying into the country, effective 5 February 2026, Nomadic/Fragomen reported on 24 February. The digital permit—suspended in 2022 amid fraud concerns—allows tourism or business stays of up to 180 days and is issued free of charge within minutes once the applicant uploads passport data and a selfie.

Brazilians entering by land or sea must still obtain a traditional consular visa, meaning employers moving staff between maquiladora sites should budget additional lead time when routing through Texas or Belize land crossings. Holders of still-valid consular visas can continue to use them until expiry.

For Brazilian nationals who prefer a guided experience, VisaHQ’s Brazil portal (https://www.visahq.com/brazil/) can pre-validate passport scans, auto-populate Mexico’s revived e-Visa application, and push status alerts to both travellers and corporate mobility teams—streamlining compliance and reducing the risk of last-minute boarding denials.

The change brings Mexico back in line with its broader pivot toward seamless digital entry systems ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, of which Guadalajara and Mexico City are host cities. Brazilian travel-management companies say air bookings to Cancún, Monterrey and CDMX jumped 18 percent in the first 48 hours after the announcement, an early sign that easier documentation directly converts into demand.

Corporate mobility teams should update traveller profiles: although the e-Visa is free, airlines will deny boarding if the QR-coded approval is not linked to the passenger’s passport record in the Mexican immigration system. Travellers transiting the U.S. should also confirm ESTA validity to avoid a documentation cascade.
