Eurowings Launches Direct Prague–Beirut Service, Expanding Czechia’s Business Links with the Middle East
Low-cost carrier Eurowings inaugurated a seasonal non-stop flight from Prague (PRG) to Beirut (BEY) on 20 February, opening a four-week window of twice-weekly rotations aimed at both the Czech diaspora and project-based travellers in the construction and energy sectors. The Airbus A320 service departs Prague every Tuesday and Friday evening, arriving in Lebanon shortly before midnight and allowing same-night connections onward to Gulf hubs. Vaclav Havel Airport Prague has been courting Middle Eastern traffic as it eyes recovery to pre-pandemic long-haul volumes.

Whether you are a Czech business traveller heading to Lebanon or an international visitor flying the reverse leg, VisaHQ can simplify the visa process. Through its Czech portal (https://www.visahq.com/czech-republic/), users can verify entry requirements, complete digital applications for Lebanese or other destinations, and even arrange document courier services—saving time when every project deadline counts.

Airport CEO Jiří Pos emphasised that the route fills a gap left when MEA suspended its Prague flights in 2020 and that Eurowings’ codeshare with parent Lufthansa gives Czech exporters seamless access to Jeddah and Riyadh via Beirut. Travel-management companies report brisk corporate demand, fuelled by Czech engineering firms building wastewater plants in northern Lebanon. A round-trip economy ticket launched at €219 inclusive of cabin bag—significantly cheaper than itineraries via Istanbul. Because Lebanon is outside the Schengen area, passengers will be among the first to test Prague Airport’s new biometric exit gates that log passport chips against airline manifests. Airport authorities advise travellers to arrive 30 minutes earlier during the first week as staff fine-tune the system. The flights run until 27 March but Eurowings hinted at a winter resumption if load factors stay above 75 %. Businesses with Q4 project timelines should monitor schedule releases in May.
