Austria opened the Koralm Railway on 14 December 2025, linking Graz and Klagenfurt in 41 minutes via the 33 km Koralm Tunnel. The €5.9 bn project is part of the EU’s Baltic–Adriatic corridor and immediately cuts Vienna–Carinthia and Vienna–Styria journey times. The line enables same-day business travel, reduces the need for domestic flights and is expected to reshape regional labour and property markets.
