With tens of thousands of ski fans descending on Kuusamo for the FIS Ruka Nordic World Cup (28–30 November 2025), Finnair has published a detailed travel-advisory aimed at smoothing passenger flows through Helsinki and regional airports.
The carrier expects a surge in oversized winter-sports gear, prompting reminders that passengers should pre-pay ski-bag fees online and keep total cabin-bag weight below eight kilograms. Travellers connecting in Helsinki are being advised to allow an extra 30 minutes if their onward sector is operated by another airline, as special baggage fees may need to be settled again and security screening lines are lengthening during peak wave banks.
Finnair has also flagged cabin-baggage limits for helmets and warned that certain fluorinated waxes are classed as prohibited dangerous goods. Power-banks must remain in hand luggage only.
For corporate mobility managers, the advisory is a useful template for staff heading to Lapland incentives or customer-hosting events: proactive bag labelling, real-time tracking via Finnair’s app, and hotel front-desk coordination can shave hours off recovery if luggage is misrouted.
The airline concludes that all domestic connections to Kuusamo and Oulu are sold out for Sunday night post-race returns; travellers still seeking seats are urged to consider overnighting in Rovaniemi or Kemi-Tornio and taking road transfers south.
